Gilles Peterson's British festival first ran from 15 to 18 August 2019 at Abbots Ripton in Cambridgeshire, a site with a history of festivals, at about 10,000 capacity. It moved to the grounds at Wimborne St Giles in Dorset for 2023. The booking is what you would expect from Peterson, and more. Live jazz and soul in the daytime, then club crews like secretsundaze and Faith on the dance stages at night, with Matthew Herbert, Tirzah and Skee Mask on early bills. It is a family-friendly event until late in the evening, when it becomes one of the better places in England to hear a house set from someone who knows the original pressing. The vibe is left of centre, as Mixmag put it. We found no recent attendance figure. Early bird tickets for 2027 sold out quickly, and the festival's own site gives 19 to 22 August.
